Our MOQ Is 2 Tons. Here Is Exactly What That Buys You.

Our MOQ Is 2 Tons. Here Is Exactly What That Buys You.
A 2-ton order leaves on two or three pallets — each under a ton, one forklift lift each.

Every price list in this industry says the same thing: MOQ 2 tons. Most buyers read it and picture a warehouse full of steel they now have to store.

The real picture is smaller, lighter and far more useful. Here is the actual maths.

The one-line calculation

Steel weighs 7.85 kg per square metre, per millimetre of thickness. Add our double coating (primer plus topcoat, 22–24 µm total dry film) and our most common board — 0.25 mm — weighs almost exactly 2 kg per square metre.

So the arithmetic is as clean as it gets:

2 tons ÷ 2 kg/m² = about 1,000 square metres of board.

That is a sheet of writing surface 40 metres long and 25 metres wide. Not an abstract tonnage — a wall of usable board.

What 2 tons is in actual panels

For the other thicknesses, the numbers shift but the picture stays the same:

ThicknessWeight per m²Board from 2 tons1200 × 2400 panels900 × 1200 panels
0.22 mm1.76 kg~1,130 m²~390~1,050
0.25 mm2.00 kg~1,000 m²~350~930
0.30 mm2.39 kg~840 m²~290~775
0.40 mm3.17 kg~630 m²~220~580

These are theoretical figures — allow 3–5% for edge trim when you plan your cutting list. But the order of magnitude is the point: a 2-ton order is a production run, not a gamble.

Mix it — that is the whole point

Here is what most buyers miss: 2 tons is per order, not per item.

You do not need 2 tons of one specification. A perfectly normal order for us looks like this:

One order, one shipment, one set of export documents — three products heading to your floor. Coil weight is controlled to within ±2%, so the tonnage on our invoice is the tonnage you unload.

Cut to your size, not ours

Everything ships either as coil or cut to your exact dimensions, within our coil width range of 600–1250 mm. If your board line runs 900 × 1200 panels, the material arrives at 900 × 1200 — no slitting waste on your side, no offcuts to scrap.

The logistics: two or three pallets

Pallets are loaded to roughly 800–900 kg — under a ton each, one forklift lift per pallet. So a full 2-ton MOQ is two or three pallets: a corner of your store, not a warehouse. MTC travels with the material, third-party inspection before loading is welcome, and free A4 samples are available if you want to test the surface first.

Under 2 tons? Once in a while, yes

The 2-ton MOQ is our standard, not a wall. If you genuinely need less — a single ton, or even 200–300 kg to fill a gap or cover an urgent replacement — we can occasionally accommodate it. The trade-off is straightforward: the coating line and the slitter are set up the same way whether the run is 300 kg or 3,000, so smaller quantities carry a higher price per ton. Tell us the quantity and the date you need it for, and we will tell you honestly whether it fits and what the short run costs.

Test a market, not a warehouse

If you have been buying board surfaces in larger lots than you need, the 2-ton MOQ is the smallest practical way to switch suppliers: enough tonnage for a real production run, small enough that your cash is not sitting on racking for six months.

Send us your thickness, width and colour split — we will confirm what your 2 tons looks like in panels, pallets and lead time before you commit to anything.
